ONGOING CRIME SPREE

Crime situation worsens

GUYANA, the land of endless wealth- the Eldorado, once again been thrown to the gutters of ethnic violence. The present episode of violence triggered by the infamous jailbreak of five members of Blackie gang on February 23, 2002   devastated the country and its people. The bandits or self-proclaimed freedom fighters of African Guyanese against Indian oppression claimed heavy causality. The results of this mindless orgy of violence are a totally devastated economy, increasing rate of unemployment, and poverty and worsening health standards. Both urban and rural Guyana is under grip of poverty. Outward migration has increased many folded in an under populated country like Guyana

Needless to repeat, large majority of victims of this violence continues to be people of Indian origin. Elder statesman like Eusi Kwayana termed the present crime wave as acts of cowardice. In a rare act of courage the three WPA leaders Eusi Kwayana, David Hinds and Andey openly condemned the violence as asked the bandits to put an end on attacks against Indians in Guyana. The main opposition party PNC and ruling party PPP remain unchallenged and unaffected by the deterioration of the law and order in the country.

 In an ongoing effort to document what is happening to Indian communities in Guyana we have launched this web site immediately after July 3^rd mayhem. On 31^st August we have compiled all the reports so far we have collected and made a preliminary analysis. The report conclusively establishes the fact that overwhelming majority of violence perpetrated against Indians in Guyana have twin objective. Firstly to force them to migrate so that a demographic change may help the opposition party to assume power. Secondly under the garb of “rich Indian” mask millions of dollars have been criminally transferred .
